We are an order of magnitude more powerful than anyone else. Twenty-five percent of the world’s economic activity happens in the United States. economy is roughly three times larger than China’s. The United States has been the sole global power since 1991, less than 20 years. From 1945 to 1991, the United States was caught in a terrific conflict with the Soviet Union. In the first half of the century, the United States was a peripheral player-marginal to what was happening. The 20th century wasn’t the American century. He spoke with Terence Monmaney.Ĭommentators have declared the end of American dominance. His most recent book is The Next 100 Years: A Forecast for the 21st Century. This post is getting long so if you have any more questions feel free to ask, I also must point out this is based on my opinion and not actual physical evidence or research regarding this topic, If there are any mistakes in what I have written please mention it.George Friedman holds a doctorate in government from Cornell University and is the founder and chief executive of Stratfor, a geopolitical consulting firm in Austin, Texas. Cyber Wars are probably going to happen, but I would not call a bunch of countries cyber bullying each other a World War 3. Lastly, nobody actually wants to start a war with anyone, it is just not worth it anymore, you will get sanctioned and lose allies, you economy will suffer, your people will suffer, everybody will suffer, there is literally no benefit. Thirdly, If for some reason a country decides to send a nuke somewhere ( very unlikely ) there is a chance ( I don't know how big of a chance ) but there is a chance that the country having the nuke sent to them can intercept it and not send a reply nuke (even if they do send a reply nuke, it doesn't mean everybody is going to nuke each other, more likely to be those 2 nukes and its over, again nobody is actually stupid enough to send nukes for no reason ) This one is a bit scary, both countries have nukes at hand, and I am not sure about how these countries handle conflict but I don't see this escalating too much. Same as China, not worth it economically, no nukes are going to be launched nobody is stupid enough for this. This one is a bit different because China is strong, but again nobody is stupid enough to start a war because they know it will damage the economy too much, and these countries ain't sending any nukes and I no idea why a war would benefit anyone here. This won't lead to a world war 3 as both Iran and North Korea don't stand much of a chance against the USA and I firmly believe Iran and North Korea are not stupid enough to ruin themselves economically Secondly, who is going to fight? based on previous World Wars they originated in Europe, which today seems like a unified and peaceful continent, of course Europe isn't the entire world and we have other big boys that aren't really friendly to each other, here are some potential conflicts for a WW3: Saying that World War 3 will never happen is quite a bold statement, but hear me out.įirst of all, wars in their traditional sense have been become quite rare, ain't no country sending infantry and troops to take over another ( It still happens in some kind of way but not actually ) and it is safe to assume that wars are gravitating towards "non-physical" warfare such as Cyber attacks, economic and political sanctions, etc.
